the spanish disease

I have a Manu Chao CD in my car that doesn't ever come out. I know all the words to Clandestino even though my French is rusty and my Spanish is nonexistent. Every time I play it with somebody else in the car, they ask me who it is. Even though Manu Chao is filling stadiums from Madrid to Tokyo, nobody here seems to have heard of him. I think they played Me Gustas Tu on the Spanish language alternative radio station down here in LA a few times, but that's about it. You say "Manu Chao" to a European, though, and watch them pee themselves with excitement as they pull out all of his CDs. Prepare to sit for a while as they do a full-on singalong while regaling you with tales of whichever Manu Chao show(s) they saw at some soccer (ahem) football stadium or rock festival. Extra points if they saw him with his first band, Mano Negra.

We're driving around in Santa Barbara. I put Proxima Estación on again, and John groans. John is English.

You've got the Spanish Disease, he says.

Manu Chao ROCKS! I heard his song Clandestino on a compilation I got from Spivey called Phat Global. I've been meaning to gather more of his music, thanks for reminding me.

Hi Kia...greetings from Spain.
From Madrid actually.
My name's Sergio.
I'm glad to know there's somebody beyond the sea who likes one of my favourite artists,Manu Chao.
Here in Spain, though he's a well-known artist,we (fans)aren't a lot either, at least not as many as i'd like,so it's great to hear from people who like him, though they are from LA(a bit far :P)

I think i've read your spanish was not quite good... i'd be very pleased to translate Manu's lyrics for you if you want me to.

I must say i arrived to your web by accident, i was reading a document on the geek social scene and clicked a link to your web page.
I've been looking around and i must say you've done a great work:
Congratulations!!
I'm impressed whith it.Your words,images...I like the whole work a lot.Original, creative... i can only say it's great!

Once again congratulations.Great design,great contents,oh!and one last thing...i apologize for my english, i'm not a skilled english-writer(not a skilled english-speaker either hehe).

Here goes my e-mail address,so if you want to,drop me a few lines.Hope to read from ya soon.

When I was in Mexico last summer my girfriend and I saw this video on MTV Mexico and couldn't stop singing it the entire trip. I'm so glad to hear it again, it brings back some great memories!
