Although I wasn't able to register in time to attend BLOGGERCON at Stanford Law School (and lord knows I enjoy every opportunity I have to return to my blissful alma mater), I was fortunate to register in time for the California Banker Association's exciting seminar on SB-1 and other privacy legislation today. Woohoo. Although this might sound interesting, trust me it was not. This was not some exciting privacy conference put on by an exciting and sexy group like EFF or trustE. Rather, it was a bunch of bankers sitting around discussing the type of paper that a privacy notice needs to be sent out on, and the mind-bending battle over the open question of federal pre-emption of state banking regulation. I could barely sit in my seat.
Finally I looked to my side and found someone else pull out his blackberry. HURRAY! I pulled mine out too. Oh shoot. I actually had work emails waiting for me there.
The best part was leaving the place among the stiff suits. As we exited embarcadero 3, one of the banking lawyers' cups or something got caught in the revolving door. I heard a crash and saw something go flying. Everyone was still.
I said, "Wow, not good to have something break among so many lawyers, haha." And no one even looked at me! I didn't even get a mercy smile.
Stiffs.
