free at last...

Our dinner guests last night were very forgiving of the "house-tour" entryway into the flat. The dinner party was a blast - i had a great time cooking, and the conversation was lovely. I enjoyed reconnecting with Karen and Galen tremendously, and meeting Sarah and Nathan was pretty fantastic. (Oh yeah. The birthday boy, and his wife? We like them, too.)

Tonight's dinner party was a little less formal (and a lot less vegan!). The guests were a motley crew, and the conversation turned a bit more towards scifi (well, most of them WERE at potlatch for the weekend) and lemurs. The more i see of Damien and Juliette, the more i like them. It was good to get to talk more with Mary Anne, and Naomi is good fun. We should make sure to hang out together again - she's even local! Juls and Sam, despite their respective health issues (a nasty cold and a broken wrist) were in good spirits after a bit of food and chat.

And the blessed locksmith showed up while we were having our apéritifs, so our guests were able to depart respectably, out the front door.

(Yes, yes, i'll add some obligatory linkage later...)

incarcerated

Greeaaaat..... An hour until the guests arrive for Tad's birthday party, and the front door.... won't open. The lock is jammed. Johnny and Bev are trying to fix it, with a butter knife.

30 minutes later, and Bev is still at it with a butter knife. Who needs a locksmith when you have cheap cutlery?

Thankfully, we have the back entrance...

identity crisis

Even the IRS has misspelled our new name - we received some paperwork a few days ago to "Meriko L and Russell A Borogrove". Great.

yikes.

This is a little scary. A man died in a fight over loud car music at 1am last night a block from my house. Not too many details, yet.

boom!

I think we've officially entered head-splodey time in the project cycle. I should just make it a milestone, no?
