thou shalt not kill

ahh... the death penalty. is it right to put to bed those who have commited horrendous crimes against man? or are the powers that be masking a negative with a not so positive?

is the death penalty an answer to an end? does lethal injection really heal the wounds of ruthless murders? all questions i can't answer, but merely offer an opinion.
personally, i am against the death penanlty. an eye for an eye, my foot. families claim death bring closure to the loss of a loved one. grasping and feeling nothing. nothing can bring back an individual's loss. there will always be a gap where that person once was. it's the same with any death... you miss... and grieve ... and think to yourself, what if?... and wish that you had done a thousand things differently. it's unfortunate... and too late.
life is learning and coping...progressing and moving on no matter what is on your plate. i can't seem to understand how the death penanlty makes any of this easier... for anyone. no matter how horrible an offender may be, they're still human and have families just the same. no lesson is learned in an early departure. a quick, painless death is the easy way out.
some think being in jail is easy. color tvs, a basketball hoop, plastic chairs. mm. lovely. regardless of how fancy one might think jail can be, with it's three free shit meals a day... being in jail is still torture. lonliness and regret are two of the hardest emotions to deal with. jail-mates wallow in their grief, day in and day out... forced to think about mistakes made, bound and confined to a tiny space. it's certainly not easy.
true, it costs tons of money to feed and hold these people captive. that's unfortunate. if we as society could maybe stop producing and packaging these monsters, things might not be so bad.
society is a terrible beast, gorging itself on mothers and fathers. consuming day in and day out. consume or be consumed. our children are raised by television and teen-aged babysitters trying to figure out the game for themselves. greed. poverty. life's simple stuggles magnified by thousands. whatever happened to happy days? i used to catch re-runs on nick-at nite. blah, blah, blah.
